Welcome to the Somonauk CUSD 432 School Counseling Website!
This site will provide you with information about the actions and initiatives of the K-8 school counselor.
The K-8 School Counseling Program at Somonauk CUSD 432 is committed to providing a comprehensive, developmental program that allows all students an equal opportunity to develop into their potential and learn the skills necessary for success throughout their lifespan.
With the partnership with other educators, parents/guardians, and the community, the counseling program will focus on academic, career, and social/emotional development in accordance to the ASCA National Standards.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Somonauk CUSD 432's counseling program is to develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program designed to improve every students' academic, social/emotional and college/career development in order to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Confidentiality is important to maintain a trusting relationship with students. Students are told that what is said between her and a student, stays between her and the student unless someone is in danger. Only then will Ms. Ozarka tell someone to make sure they are safe and healthy. Information is never disclosed to other staff members, parents or students unless the permission is granted from the student. If a student discloses information deemed crucial to a child's safety or well-being, the parent/guardian will be notified.
